Well it’s been a long time coming but the Grand Final rematch is finally upon us. It’s only taken till round 13 and a lot’s happened since that Wonderful day at PCO last year…

Both teams struggled at the start of the year Macleod not winning till round 5 and ourselves till Round 7. Now amazingly we both find ourselves in the top 5 and the stakes this week are massive with a cramped ladder. Just 6 points separate 4th to 9th on the table so to say a win is a must is an understatement.

The game kicks off at 2.10 and looks to be one of the games of the year. One you don’t want to miss.

What you also don’t want to miss is the Pre Match Presidents Lunch. For just $30 you’ll get a great feed and entertainment by the “Suburban Footballer”. Action kicks off at 11.30 and will wrap up around game time. As well as the entertainment I’m sure you will get some pearls of Wisdom from the Pres himself – he’s quite a wordsmith and would be worth the price of admission alone. The Suburban Footballer is just an added bonus!

Of course you can make a day of it, as the reserves will precede the senior game – strange that?, They too need to continue to win to be sure of finals action. We currently sit 5th by percentage, just a game out of 3rd. The stakes are high and Scotty will have the boys fired up for a win to keep the pressure on. Game starts at 11.55.

Prior to that, well the big games keep on coming as the 19’s are also in action at home in – yeap you guessed it, another must win affair. The boys are a game outside the top 5 and play the second placed Mill Park from 9.40. First time around we barnstormed our way home but left the run too late fallingl just short. Ross will no doubt have the boy’s ready from the opening bounce this week as we look to back up last week’s solid win to keep the pressure on those above us. Grab your egg and bacon, coffee and find a vantage point to take in all the action.

It really is a great days footy, so get there. You won’t be disappointed.

Sundays action has the senior women at home against the very impressive VU Western Spur who are undefeated this year. This will be a big test for our ladies to see where they sit against the best. We’ll be cracking in and giving it our best shot. The action kicks off at 3.00, canteen and bar will be open. What a great way to wind down you weekend – after taking in the Junior action.

Which brings us to that Junior action – Fancy that….

On the home front the under Red team will start us off on the top oval with a 9am start against Mill Park, followed by the U9 Red at 10.15 who’ll be taking on Montmorency White. As always these contests will be hard fought and won, well not actually won as we don’t keep score. That said the kids will tell you if they did win! As always – and most importantly, it will be lot’s of fun.

On the Hallowed Main oval are the Under 10’s. After the extended break due to a bye last weekend they will be just itching to get started. Look out the Stars of Fitzroy the action will be hot from 10.30.

Next in line is the Under 11’s who will look to consolidate last week’s great win, with another sterling performance. This time it’s Laurimar Black from 11.45.

The last of the Junior home games has the under 16’s also hosting Laurimar. It was an even affair the first time around, but they got the better of us. I’m sure the boys learnt from that one and will be ready to turn the tables this week – 1.15 don’t miss it.

To the action pon the Road…

The under 13’s fresh from a resounding victory last week will be looking for more of the same this week as they travel to Northcote. Earlier this year they edged us out in a tight contest, but these kids have grown in stature as the year has gone on. A bit like the Legends beloved Blues. in fact I reckon they could give the Blues a run for their money! Alas they will have to settle for Northcote from 1.00, it will be worth the trip to take in the action.

The 14 girls face up to Diamond Creek Women’s Red at Plenty Park Oval. Should be a mouth-watering affair as our girls look to take down the top of the table side. The Messiah is quietly confident of a bold showing from his ever improving chargers – take your seats by 11.45.

Our U15’s venture out to Montmorency for a 1.15 start. The boys will be looking to bounce back after last week’s defeat and keep pushing for the coveted top two spot heading towards the finals. I have a funny feeling they will be in a mean mood, expect the sparks to fly!

And that’s it for the Juniors. What about the under 17’s you ask ?, Not to mention the 14 boys. Well they both have the dreaded Bye this weekend. It could be worse it could be in round 14! They both get to rest up and will be back in action next week.

Finally but firstly (??) our sensational Netballers who know doubt are being inspired by the awesome deeds of the Diamonds over in Liverpool at the moment. While I don’t think our girls are on a par with the National team, they play with the same passion and commitment. All will all be on show Friday night against North Heidelberg 5 at Rmit Uni, court 4, tip off at 6.30 – a nice early start to the weekends activities.

And that as they say is almost that…..

Tonight the meals are on of course. I do believe the Parma’s are back on the menu – $10 with chips and salad. Best value anywhere! Hear the teams for the weekend first hand and take in the must see Quiz with our resident quiz masters Head” Valeri and Matty V holding court.

Have a great weekend.

See you at the Footy and Netball.

Go Roosters.
